Social Services Overview
The Salvation Army North Central Brevard County Corps has two social service sites, each providing basic social services that are similar, but differ relating to local community gaps in service and adjacent Salvation Army and community programs.
Each Social Service location maintains a Food Pantry stocked with non-perishable foods, and distributes perishable items as they are received from local businesses. Several food drives each year ensure the constant availability of food throughout the year.
In times of disaster, the Social Services Department assists victims with in-kind and financial help, under the guidelines set forth by The Salvation Army's Disaster policy. Staff and volunteers assist disaster victims with replacing household items, food, and obtain temporary housing or assist with relocation.
The purpose of the program is help single individuals and families who are in crisis. The target populations are people who have experienced a recent hardship that without help, threatens to cause homelessness or other suffering.
