ATLANTA, GA – The Salvation Army along the eastern coast of the Gulf of Mexico is ready for the possible arrival of hurricane, or tropical storm, Ida. The Salvation Army continues to partner with FEMA, local and state emergency management officials and local non-profits to ensure residents are protected.
The Salvation Army is committed to partnering with all levels of government to help become more efficient in its disaster relief, providing a collaborative response when no one entity can handle it alone.

| DAUGHTRY: HALFTIME ACT FOR ANNUAL DALLAS COWBOY THANKSGIVING DAY GAME |

It is a pleasure to announce that the Grammy-nominated band Daughtry will be the halftime performance act for their annual Thanksgiving Day Game benefitting The Salvation Army's Red Kettle Campaign.
The press conference was held at the Cowboys training facility in Valley Ranch to a full house of reporters. The band was present to talk about their performance, and hand out signed copies of their new CD - "Leave this Town" - to some lucky children who are part of The Salvation Army's family in the Dallas Ft. Worth area.

| THE SALVATION ARMY PROVIDES PASTORAL CARE AT FORT HOOD |

The Salvation Army is responding this morning to an urgent request from the State of Texas to report to Fort Hood near Killeen, Texas, site of the tragic shooting incident of Thursday afternoon, to provide pastoral care and counseling to first responders, family members and children affected by this horrific tragedy.
Salvation Army Officer from Waco, Texas, Captain Russell Czajkowski, a former United States Marine, will be overseeing The Salvation Army’s pastoral response efforts on site with direction from Major James Taylor, The Salvation Army’s Divisional Secretary for Texas.

| THE SALVATION ARMY SERVING STORM VICTIMS ACROSS NORTHWEST LOUISIANA |

Jackson, MS – As residents of the northwest Louisiana continue
cleaning up after Thursday’s storms moved through the metro Shreveport/
Bossier area, Salvation Army volunteers and staff are providing snacks
and meals in hardest hit neighborhoods in the Haughton/Red Chutt area
near Shreveport throughout the day on Friday.
“We (The
Salvation Army) want residents cleaning up after the storm to be able
to focus on the task at hand, cleaning up and getting back to normal,”
said Major Mark Smith, Corps Officer for The Salvation Army in
Shreveport. “Our goal is to take at least one more burden off the backs
of those cleaning up after the storm.”
Services will continue as long as needed throughout northwest Louisiana.
