Headline:  DERT (Disaster Emergency Response Team) Volunteer
Description:   Disaster can strike at anytime. The Salvation Army, as well as all Emergency Responders, need to be ready 24/7, 365 days a year. This is an opportunity to be part of a crucial life-sustaining team who not only serves our community, but others as well. We need You to be part of our DERTeam ready to respond on a local, divisional or regional levels with feeding, hydrating and comforting weary disaster victims and Emergency Responders alike.
Requirements:   DERTeam members need to be at least 18 years of age. Disaster training is offered periodically throughout the year.

Headline:  Thrift Store Clothes Organizer
Description:   The Salvation Army is blessed with wonderful donors who contribute items on a daily basis. Our largest donated item is clothing. We need volunteers to aid in the process of sorting and hanging clothing for display on our sales floor. This is a fun and easy way to get involved. If you like working at your own pace in a warehouse environment, this is the volunteer opportunity for you!
Requirements:   This opportunity is available to either gender. Volunteers must be 16 years old and up.

Headline:  Transitional Housing - Maintenace/Cleaning Volunteer
Description:   The Salvation Army's Transitional Housing program is designed for displaced families and individuals to use short term and occasionally have to be swept out, wiped down and touched up with paint before the next family is able to reside in it. This is a terrific opportunity to get involved with a vital part of The Salvation Army's Social Service's program. This opportunity could be accomplished with just a few hours a week, however, there is always yard work and clean-up opportunities available.

Headline:  Crisis Center Hot-line Operator
Description:   This opportunity involves one-on-one phone conversation with individuals calling in reference to domestic violence, abuse and rape. We need compassionate volunteers to help assist those who are in distress. This is a wonderful opportunity to be the first contact for women who have become victim to these crimes. In addition to answering phone calls, there will be various other job duties such as re-stocking the pantry and/or minimal office work.
Requirements:   Volunteer must have Level 2 background check and will have Privilege training.

Headline:  Domestic Violence Shelter Clerical Volunteer
Description:   The Salvation Army is in need of dedicated volunteers to help with clerical duties such as filing, data entry, typing and other related office setting responsibilities. We are sure you'll find this opportunity to be very rewarding. The Salvation Army's Domestic Violence program is a very "high-profile" program and requires additional training (provided by The Salvation Army) and additional background clearance.
Requirements:   This opportunity will require typing and general computer skills.

Headline:  Food Pantry Volunteer
Description:   The Salvation Army assists families and individuals in need of life- sustaining food items on a daily basis. This volunteer opportunity would include duties such as: organizing/stocking pantry shelves and organizing food boxes for families and individuals. This opportunity could be fulfilled with 10 to 15 hours per week (2 to 3 hours per morning). By assisting with these duties, you would enable our case workers to spend more time meeting the needs of our clients.
Requirements:   Volunteers could be male or female. Minimal lifting would be involved.

Headline:  Budgeting Class Instructors
Description:   The Salvation Army has recently begun a budgeting class for clients and the public as well. The class is held every Thursday evening at 5:30pm. There are many people who have never had any real instruction on how to handle their finances. This is a wonderful opportunity to teach life-changing financial skills to individuals who need direction and instruction on how to prioritize their financial situation. The Salvation Army is looking for individuals who posses a willingness to teach this basic 101 budgeting coarse.
Requirements:   materials are available to aid in teaching this coarse.
