The Petersburg Generals to Host Salvation Army Night; Canned Goods to be Collected for Salvation Army Tri-Cities Food Pantry
The Salvation Army Tri-Cities Service Center has partnered with the Petersburg Generals for a canned good collection during the Generals' game versus the Asheboro Copperheads on Monday, July 2nd.
Everyone attending the game who donates three cans of food will receive a dollar off admission as a thank you from the Generals and The Salvation Army.
"As we enter the summer months and area children are home from school, the need for non-perishable food items increases," said Jeff Baldwin, Public Relations Director for The Salvation Army of Central Virginia.
"Every month we serve an average of 320 individuals through the Tri-Cities food pantry, so donations are critical to keep the shelves stocked and ready to assist those in need."
General admission tickets are $5; reserved seating tickets are $6; and tickets for senior citizens and children 12 years or younger are $3. Gates open at 6pm and the game starts at 7:05pm.
The Petersburg Generals play at Petersburg Sports Complex, 100 Ballpark Road in Petersburg.
The Petersburg Generals are a summer wood-bat baseball team made up of the best college players from across the nation. The Generals are owned and operated by the City of Petersburg and play home games at the Petersburg Sports Complex.
The Generals compete in the Coastal Plain League (CPL), which features 14 teams located throughout Virginia and the Carolinas. The Generals entered the league in 2000 and claimed the championship in its first year. The Generals play a 56-game league schedule with 27 home dates.
