Richmond, VA (October 16, 2013) – The Salvation Army of Central Virginia is now accepting applications from families in need seeking Christmas gifts for their children.

The application process began on Tuesday, October 1 when The Salvation Army began accepting appointments from families who then scheduled times to complete their Christmas application. Appointments are scheduled for Monday through Friday from 9AM to 4PM beginning Monday, October 14 and ending Friday, November 1.

"We pray our generous Central Virginia community will again help provide Christmas joy to thousands of children in our region," said Major Timothy Carter of The Salvation Army. "We know there are thousands of our Central Virginia neighbors in need this year and pray that we can help them at Christmas and into 2014."

Partnerships that assist The Salvation Army in providing Christmas gifts to Central Virginia families in need include the Angel Tree program with NBC12, Richmond Christmas Mother with the Richmond Times-Dispatch, and Fox Holiday Socks with Fox Richmond. Support from Michael & Son, Inc. and West Broad Honda will assist The Salvation Army with warehouse and transportation needs, respectively.

Families are scheduled for appointments to complete their Christmas applications by calling (804) 389-3189. Calls are taken Monday through Friday from 9AM to 4PM. Families receiving appointments will be scheduled to complete an application at The Salvation Army Christmas Warehouse in their respective area during the weeks of October 14, October 21, and October 28. Families applying for Christmas Assistance in the city of Richmond will visit 1407 Cummings Drive, Richmond, VA 23230 during their appointment time to complete their application.
