"Shoes for the Needy" to Benefit Salvation Army ARC

In early November, Saxon Shoes began collecting used, but useable shoes that will be presented to The Salvation Army's Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC) during the holiday season.

For the past 17 years, Saxon has collected over 100,000 pairs of shoes from the community to help those in need in our area.

"Each year Saxon Shoes donates hundreds of new shoes to children in need through programs with the United Way and other community organizations," said Gary Weiner, president of Saxon Shoes.

"During the holidays we invite our customers and community to help us help others by donating the useable shoes in their closet that they just don't wear anymore."

Saxon Shoes is located at Short Pump Town Center and in The Village at Spotsylvania Towne Centre in Fredericksburg. The public can bring their used, but useable shoes to either location for donation.

The Salvation Army ARC provides shelter, food, and counseling for up to 81 men suffering from substance abuse. These men are provided with work therapy and are involved in counseling in an effort to assist them recover from their addictions.

These shoes will allow The Salvation Army to continue meeting the needs of these men and their families.
