| "It is our hope that these children were able to start the new school year with the supplies and confidence they need to be successful and that the assistance we provided will allow each of them to achieve at a high level this academic year," said Jeff Baldwin, Richmond Area Command Public Relations Director.
Each year, this assistance is made possible through the WRVA Alden Aaroe Shoe Fund and the countless individual and corporate supporters of the fund.
This fund, in its 42nd year, has assisted thousands upon thousands of children right here in Central Virginia since its inception and was recently expanded to include back to school assistance.
In addition to this back to school assistance program, The Salvation Army Richmond Center for Worship and Service held a "Back to School Sunday" service and more than 150 individuals attended.
Those in attendance were afforded the opportunity to receive backpacks filled with school supplies and were treated to music by the youth praise band, the youth brass band and the youth brass ensemble.
