captainRobert S. Ukrop Inducted as Life Member of the Richmond Salvation Army Advisory Board

On the evening of October 1st, the Richmond Salvation Army and its William Booth Society, honored and acknowledged Mr. Robert S. Ukrop for his service and dedication to those in need in Central Virginia with an induction as a Life Member of The Salvation Army Advisory Board.

This event, hosted by Bruce and Nancy Gottwald at their home, was attended by more than 60 friends and supporters of The Salvation Army, as well as family, friends, and colleagues of Ukrop.

"The Salvation Army was honored and delighted to pay tribute to Bobby Ukrop for his selfless dedication and service," said Captain David Worthy, Richmond Area Commander.

"His generosity, guidance and passion for the Army's work in Central Virginia is to be commended and serves as a supreme example to others the importance of giving back to your community and helping those less fortunate."

Captain Worthy presented Ukrop with a framed life membership certificate issued by The Salvation Army Southern Territory and signed by Territorial Commander, Maxwell Feener.

"Life membership in The Salvation Army's Advisory Board is a special honor bestowed upon individuals who exemplify the ideals of The Salvation Army's founder, William Booth, and, in the Central Virginia community, few have given more of themselves than Bobby," said Worthy.

Ukrop joins Mr. Carl Lindner as the only other Life Member of the Richmond Advisory Board, and is one of fewer than 550 Life Members in the Southern Territory; a territory that includes 15 states and Washington, D.C.

"The Army extends its sincerest thanks to the Gottwalds and we are deeply grateful for their tremendous support and kind hospitality as we honored Bobby," said Worthy.
