bballYear Round:

Office Support
Volunteers may assist with data entry, mailings, making phone calls, and other clerical duties.

Special Events
The Salvation Army relies on volunteers to ensure the success of special events that benefit the Richmond and Tri-Cities communities throughout the year.

Emergency Shelter
The 24-hour emergency shelter houses those who are experiencing a housing crisis and are working back to self sufficiency. Opportunities exist to mentor and counsel residents as well as to assist staff with various programs.

Disaster Relief
The Salvation Army responds to needs across the country. When a natural or man-made disaster strikes, volunteers serve meals, counsel victims, and support the clean-up and rebuilding efforts.

The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club
Volunteers at The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club, in Church Hill, can make a positive difference in the lives of area youth. Individuals are needed for mentoring, teaching, and recreation programs.

Facility Maintenance
Volunteers assist in the upkeep of The Army's various facilities (Boys & Girls Club, Corps, and Adult Rehabilitation Center) by maintaining landscaping and the overall appearance of the facilities through painting and cleaning.

Christmas:

Office Support
Office opportunities exist in all areas of support for our Christmas Services program, including registering clients, data entry, and general clerical duties.

Angel Tree
Volunteers man tables at the various mall locations assisting and tracking Angel adoptions and receiving gifts as they are returned.

Stockings
Volunteers are to fill stockings for the children served through our Christmas Assistance program. This is a great way to involve your group or organization in the spirit of holiday giving.

Christmas Center
From the moment The Salvation Army moves into the Christmas Center, volunteers are needed to assist with setting up the facility. Duties include setting up tables, sorting coats and clothing items, Angel Tree gifts, Toys for Tots deliveries, preparation of food and family gift bags, escorting clients on the Days of Distribution and equally important is the clean up phase after Christmas.

Kettles
The Salvation Army's most recognizable symbol, the Red Kettle, is positioned outside of local businesses and retail outlets. The Red Kettle Campaign and our Bell Ringers are a holiday tradition. The Salvation Army is always looking for local groups and organizations to assist in fundraising and wishing shoppers "Merry Christmas" through this time-honored tradition.
