Angel Tree, Adopt-A-Family and Silver Bells Community Sponsorship 2011
Dear Friends:
In 2010, The Salvation Army was privileged to provide toys, clothing, coats, stockings, hats and mittens to over 11,128 needy children throughout Central Virginia. Because of the continued economic downturn, we anticipate that a significant number of people will reach out to us for assistance during the holiday season, specifically through the Angel Tree and Silver Bells program.
YOU were a tremendous assistance to the Christmas program last year!! We have been fortunate to partner with local businesses, organizations, churches and private entities such as yourself to provide hundreds of thousands of needy children with holiday-related assistance. For many, the Angel Tree program is the only means through which parents can provide for their children. In the simplest of ways, the Angel Tree program changes lives, lifts spirits and provides hope, joy and delight. Many seniors would not receive even one Christmas gift if they were not connected with the Silver Bells program. The Adopt-A-Family program allows individuals or groups to adopt one or more family units, thus providing gifts for all of the children in the family, as well as the parent(s) if they choose.
We would be delighted if you would consider partnering with us in 2011 to provide mass quantities of that joy and delight!
If interested, please download and complete the form below and fax it to (804) 225-0154.
Angels will be available as early as October 17th, dependent upon the number of early applicants we receive. They are distributed in order of receipt of the attached registration form. We continue to streamline the program, in hopes of making it easier for sponsors and more efficient. It does take a longer to fill Silver Bell requests, and we often run out.
Angel gifts are due to the warehouse (location provided once location is determined) by December 8th. It is imperative that we receive the gifts by this date in order to get the specified gifts to the individual children at distribution. It becomes a timely burden to fill 25-200 angel bags at the last minute because a group did not return the gifts until during distribution. We want to do whatever we can to avoid late returns.
Families to be adopted should be available by November 14th at the latest. The gifts should be returned by December 8th as well.
Please return ALL items in clear trash bags!! This will make the sorting process easier for staff and volunteers.
We appreciate your willingness to assist the needy in our community through the Angel Tree, Adopt-A-Family and/or Silver Bells program! The Salvation Army could not do what it does without people such as YOU!
Thank you!
