Our Family & Social Services program provides a vast array of services for those who have encountered a short-term emergency. Services include: rent/mortgage assistance, utility bill assistance, prescription assistance, HeatShare program, and Wood Heat program. We also offer food bags through our food pantry.
All of these services are intended to help families and individuals work through temporary crises. For example, a parent may be laid-off from his/her job and thus need help paying the rent for a month. In that situation, The Salvation Army can step in and help the family maintain their residence. This keeps the family safe and secure, keeps the individual family members off the streets, and allows the parent time to find a new job and become self-sufficient again.
If you need assistance through this program, please contact Priscilla Carter, Coordinator of Family & Social Services. She can be reached at (540) 343-5335.
