Voluntary Interim Placement - Enhanced Recovery (VIP-ER) Program

This ten week residential program is a collaborative effort with 7 local agencies; the program is geared for those seeking treatment for drug and alchohol addictions.

"Sometimes we think it is easier to live with the old problems than work on the new solutions"  Dr. David Sutton, Director of Programs/Facilities

The VIP-ER program case management philosophy is based on teaching people to become more independent, gain self-esteem and give them a sense of what they are capable of achieving.  The treatment plan is person specific, based on their individual goals.  The community treatment emphasis looks at every aspect of a person's life.  We look at how the person is interacting with peers and  family, along with other social aspects.  The treatment plan is based on what fits each client's goals.  Basically, we work with each client to figure out what works, what does not work and come up with something that will work.

Basic Criteria for Placement Within Program:

  • Must be a resident of Sarasota County.
  • Demonstrated need for treatment for addiction to alcohol and/or drugs including street drugs, prescription medications or any other such addictive substances.
  • Desires to undergo a life change that is designed to allow the client to live substance free permanently.
  • A willingness to participate in a program of recovery.
  • The ability to receive and follow basic instructions and guidelines including: class participation, dorm activities, chore assignments and participation at recovery meetings.
  • Passing basic background checks for violent criminal and sexual offender history.
  • Be willing to participate in a program that is both interpersonal and clinical in its curriculum and is operating in a setting that is both therapeutic and faith based.
  • While the client need not be indigent or homeless to gain admission, the program is designed and funded as an alternative for those who cannot access treatment in any other setting primarily due to a lack of resources.
  • The client must be willing to commit the block of time needed to complete the program which would be no less than 10 weeks.
  • Please note - Due to the large number of clients currently requesting admission to the VIP-ER program, allowing re-treatment is not a viable option. (There are routinely a sufficient number of self-referral clients to fill the slots for the next two ten week programs.)
