HOW THE FAITH PROGRAM HAS HELPED OUR FAMILY...."In a word, I have to say 'Safe'!  After a rather traumatic experience, we came to The Salvaton Army in January, 2012 and lived in the Family Dorms.  In February 2012, the FAITH program accepted our application....We finally felt we had a place to come home to and lay down at night and no one could make us leave. When you are worried about a place to live, it's hard to think about the future.  Future implies hope and I was feeling hopeless after moving eight times, sleeping on the floor of a church and in the car due to an abusive relationship, failed business and marriage, foreclosure, bankruptcy and loss of both parents.......FAITH, I never imagined a program that existed that would allow our family to rebuild our lives in a safe place and allow us to save for a new start and a place of our own.  Thank you!"

5/12/12   L. G. (written by a single mother of two as she completed her 90 day probation period for this year long program)

The FAmilies In Transitional Housing program (also called the FAITH program) is a transitional living program for homeless families with children.  Twelve furnished apartments are offered, rent free, to residents for one year.  It is a safe place for people to rebuild their lives.

FAITH is a structure program where residents must obtain full-time employment, save their money, repay their debts, learn and practice money management.  This is coupled with intensive case management and basic life skills training.  This program helps fill in the gaps of life skills that residents have missed.  When residents leave the program, they are better equipped for success.  Personal responsibility and accountability are emphasized throughout this program.

Residents experience success time and time again; they become empowered and drivers of their own destiny.  Families move from homelessness to self-sufficiency and their own place. Some even move to homeownership! Through the skills and changes residents make during this program....they are no longer planning day to day and living on the edge. They can now plan for continued success and a brighter future.
