Helping The Many Today the 55+ age category is the fastest growing group in the country. This makes The Salvation Army programs for older adults more important than ever.
Each year thousands of older adults are served by The Salvation Army. In the Shreveport Corps Community Center, older adults gather to share interests, develop new skills, and enjoy the company of their peers. The Salvation Army meets their needs in many ways.
Activities Educational classes, hot lunch programs and seminars are just a few of the opportunities we offer. The Shreveport Corps provides a variety of activities to meet diverse needs. Here, in an atmosphere of understanding and respect, new friendships are formed and talents discovered.
Meeting Special Needs
While the majority of older adults are mobile, involved and participating members of society, The Salvation Army operates a program for those who need an extra helping hand. Through hot meals (including home delivery), and transportation services, The Salvation Army makes sure that the needs of many are met. An important part of the SAINTS ALIVE! Program and telephone reassurance program is visiting shut-ins, letting other adults know that they're important, that The Salvation Army cares.
There When You Need Us
The Salvation Army is there for the growing thousands who have spent their lives serving others. Regardless of age, race, religion, national origin, gender, or financial status, we endeavor to meet the needs of many...one by one.
An Invitation to Help
As the older adult population continues to grow, so do their needs for programs and services, and so do the costs of maintaining and expanding these services.
The Salvation Army cordially invites you to participate in our older adult programs. If you're an older adult, why not explore the many activities available to you at 200 East Stoner Avenue, the Corps Community Center?
The prayers and financial support of people of all ages form the foundation of all The Salvation Army is doing for our older population. Please remember us with your prayers, your gifts, and with such special gift opportunities as a bequest in your will.
