 lost365 days a year, Salvation Army provides shelter for over 110 homeless people a night: 25 Women with Children, 20 Veterans, 15 Single Women, and 50 Single Men and with an additional 30 emergency cots for extreme weather. Also, disaster services were in Gustav we provided shelter for over 300 people and 36,400 meals for state run shelters in need.

In 2008, Locally on average lodging over 40,000 nights and serving over 225,000 meals a year. In 2008, The Salvation Army has provided help to over 110,470 personal assistance request thru the Senior Day Program, Disaster Services, School Uniforms Drives, Youth Corps, and at Christmas we serve over 5,000 children/families.

Forbes Magazine has awarded The Salvation Army a gold star as one of America's top 10 charities of 2003 according to the Forbes article "Genuinely Needy!" 12/8/03 "Our annual survey of 200 large charities picks 10 that shine," stated the magazine, designating The Salvation Army as one that gives supporters "a better bang for the donor's buck."
