Annual Wings of Hope Luncheon

The Purpose
Bringing hope to the homeless. That’s the purpose of the 13th Annual Wings of Hope Luncheon and Fashion Show, sponsored by The Salvation Army of Martin County’s Women’s Auxiliary.  Proceeds from this luncheon provide on-going support for Compassion House, our transitional housing shelter for homeless women and children; as well as provide funding for Christmas Assistance for the underprivileged children of the area through our Angel Tree program. In 2012, The Salvation Army helped more than 1600 children’s Christmas dreams come true.  And in its first full year of operations, Compassion House provided safe secure shelter, food, life skills training and more to over 75 homeless women and children.

The People
Coordinated by the The Salvation Army of Martin County’s Women’s Auxiliary, committee members for the 13th Annual Wings of Hope Luncheon and Fashion Show include luncheon chair Jacki Jackson, Terri Cremins, Vicki Davis, Muriel Franz, Beth Mistarz, Char Meyering, Pat Northcutt and Joan Smith with expert assistance from Lucy Kiggins, Pat McMillan and Esther Williams.  Lt. Andrea Hoover serves as Corps Officer and Liaison with The Women’s Auxiliary.

The Party
From fun to festive to glamorous, there’s sure to be something for everyone from the Shoppes at Harbour Bay during our 13th Annual Wings of Hope Luncheon and Fashion Show.  The luncheon and fashion show will once again be held at Willoughby Golf Club.  Prior to the luncheon (beginning at 10:30 a.m.) attendees are encouraged to shop at our Fashion Expo with our local fashion and beauty vendors, including Accessories Unlimited, Bead Dazzle, BeautiControl, JB Marsh Designs, Little Shop of Chic and Sandy’s Handbags.  The Salvation Army will receive a portion of the sales of every item sold by a vendor during this time.  During the luncheon (beginning at 11:30 a.m.) models from many of the Shoppes at Harbour Bay will professionally showcase the latest fashions, narrated by Harbour Bay’s Lynda Hartley-Urban and musically accompanied by local pianist Sue Hendershot.  And upon entering into the luncheon, guests will be greeted by the beautiful music from The Salvation Army’s Divisional Brass Band.  Participating Harbour Bay Shoppes include Chicos’, Evelyn & Arthur, J.McLaughlin, Kemps Shoe Salon & Boutique, Moon Islander, Patchington, “So Unique” Gallery Boutique and Tamera’s Forever Bridal. Following the luncheon, every attendee will be given an outstanding goody bag which will include not only fun and useful items but also local coupons and certificates.  This luncheon is the perfect beginning to the new social season events.

Tickets for the luncheon are $100 per person or $125 for “angels.”  To purchase a ticket, please call Pat Northcutt at 772-223-4039. For more information about The Salvation Army of Martin County or its programs and services, please call 772-288-1471 or visit www.salvationarmystuart.org.

The Salvation Army, an evangelical part of the universal Christian church established in 1865, has been supporting those in need in His name without discrimination for 130 years in the United States. Nearly 30 million Americans receive assistance from The Salvation Army each year through the broadest array of social services that range from providing food for the hungry, relief for disaster victims, assistance for the disabled, outreach to the elderly and ill, clothing and shelter to the homeless and opportunities for underprivileged children. 82 cents of every dollar spent is used to carry out those services in 5,000 communities nationwide.
