Last year at Christmastime, The Salvation of Martin County was able to provide $22,800 in grocery gift cards to assist families with food for both Christmas and Thanksgiving dinner.

1,483 children had a brighter Christmas through our Angel tree program which ensures that every child enrolled receives at least two toys and an outfit.

Angel Tree

The Salvation Army's Angel Tree Program provides new clothing and/or toys for children. A sponsoring company or corporation places a Christmas tree in a secure, high-pedestrian traffic area or lobby. The tree is decorated with numbered paper angel tags with the first name, age and gender of a child who will receive the gift. Contributors remove one or more tags from the tree and purchase appropriate gifts for the child or children described on the tags. The toys are then picked up by The Salvation Army and later distributed to the parents to give to the child/children on Christmas Day.

As generous people in the community "adopt" angels off various trees throughout the county, volunteers are needed to help during the Christmas season to sort and distribute the gifts to the families during distribution week, usually two weeks to a week before Christmas.

Kettle Campaign/Bell Ringers

The Salvation Army Red Kettle program, dating back to 1891, provides a critical cornerstone of support for all Salvation Army community centers and service centers. Funds raised provide year-round services such as emergency food, youth programs, feeding program, summer camp for children and social service programs for the community.

Volunteers are needed November and December to stand at various locations and ring a bell to raise funds and awareness of The Salvation Army Programs
