You are in: The Salvation Army Grand Opening
An after school performing arts camp, culinary training class and health and fitness programs are just some of the new initiatives taking place at The Salvation Army in Tallahassee.
After more than two years of planning, The Salvation Army in Tallahassee will unveil its new community center on Saturday, November 9.
Salvation Army Captain Julio Da Silva said the community has been waiting several years for a new Salvation Army facility.
The 37,000 square foot building is one of the largest Salvation Armys in Florida and one of the few "one-stop-shops." The facility will serve as a community center, social service office, church, children's area and will also house the family store, formally at 2131 Jackson Bluff Rd.
"The Salvation Army can now offer a variety of life skills training classes, including a specialized sewing class to teach transferable skills for use in the job market," Da Silva said. "We want our new center to be a place of hope, where people can belong, become, and believe." READ MORE
