Angel Tree

The Salvation Army's Angel Tree program brightens the lives of thousands of children each year who, otherwise, have no gifts to open during the holidays. Angel Tree is a purely volunteer-driven program - with people from all over Tampa Bay donating toys, time and expertise. This program is a testament to the power of people coming together to help their neighbors in need.

Each year, approximately 6,500 needy children in Hillsborough County receive Christmas gifts (age appropriate toys, clothing, etc.) through The Salvation Army's Angel Tree program. Families living at or below the Federal Poverty level are eligible to register their children for the program.  Tell us how many needy children you'd like to "adopt" for Christmas, and we will provide you with paper angels including child's name, age, clothing & shoe size, and a short list of needs and gift ideas. Angels are available in late October. You can also stuff stockings for children under the age of 10.

 Helpful Information:

  • Paper Angels are available starting in November. Call or email us to learn more about the Angel Tree program, and help make Christmas special for needy children. You can also pick a paper angel from the ABC Action News Angel Tree, located in the ABC Action News lobby at 4045 N. Himes Avenue, Tampa, FL 33607, on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. You can call ABC Action News at 813-354-2828.

To request angels or stockings, or to arrange for pick-up of large quantities of gifts, please contact Patty Harris at PattyN_Harris@uss.salvationarmy.org or 813-226-0055 x 372.

Volunteer Set-Up & Gift Distribution

Throughout the months of November and December, The Salvation Army needs hundreds of elves (volunteers) on weekdays, weeknights and Saturdays to prepare the Holiday Toyshop and Angel Tree gifts for distribution to needy families. Volunteers are also needed to partner with these families on the day of distribution to help them pick up their children's gifts and food for holiday meals. Your group can volunteer all day or a portion of the day.

To volunteer for the Angel Tree program, please contact Captain Lauren Boatman at Lauren_Boatman@uss.salvationarmy.org or 813-226-0055 x 220.
