The Salvation Army Enjoy a Back-to-School Shopping Spree at Target
WHAT:
On July 24, 2012, more than 60 homeless and needy students in Hillsborough and Pinellas counties had the opportunity to visit a local Target store to purchase back-to-school clothing, shoes and other must-have items for the school year. Each child selected by The Salvation Army to participate received an $80 gift card, and shopped for their back-to-school wardrobe with a community volunteer.
"The Target School Spree is a great opportunity to help students in need prepare for the new school year," said Laysha Ward, President, Community Relations, Target. "Each year, we look forward to teaming up with The Salvation Army to provide students with the back-to-school supplies they need to have a successful school year and stay on the path to graduation."
Through community support from the New York Yankees, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tampa Honda Land, McNichols Company, Amscot Financial, TECO Energy, PwC, FIS Global, Wells Fargo Advisors, Catalina Marketing and others, The Salvation Army also will provide thousands of backpacks filled with school supplies to these and thousands more homeless and needy children throughout Tampa Bay for the 2012-2013 school year.
