THE SALVATION ARMY IN TEMPLE, Texas
The Salvation Army, founded in 1865, established a Service Unit in Temple, Texas in 1957. Thirty-eight years later in 1995, The Salvation Army opened a new Corps Community Center in Temple to the glory of God. Whether a simple gift of a donut to a tembling soldier over 80 years ago or paying the way to send a child to camp today, a central force of the Army is its giving.
The role of The Salvation Army in Temple, Texas is to respond to specific crisis situations by trying to raise hope in the hearts and minds of people, to help individuals and families break the cycle of poverty and helping them to help the themselves. However, our greatest challenge in the 21st century is to continue to develop relevant programs and services that address the needs of our community.
