Every kid deserves to start school with "The Write Stuff".  That's why The Salvation Army has once again teamed with WVEC-13 to help provide children of low-income families with the necessities to start the school year off right.

Donations from the public of items in need (see list below), can be dropped off at any Hampton Roads Chick-Fil-A, Big KMart or Super KMart.  Additionally, any customer that donates a school supply at a local Chick-Fil-A restaurant from August 17-22 will receive a free chicken sandwich.

"We're thrilled to partner with WVEC-13 again for The Write Stuff", said Major Lewis Reckline of The Salvation Army.  "They do a tremendous job of getting word out of our growing need and now to have Chick-Fil-A and KMart on board as well is great."

In 2008, just more than 1,400 children, kindergarden through 12th grade, benefitted from The Write Stuff.  Last year children received backpacks, notebook paper, pencils, spiral notebooks, pocket folders, rulers, erasers, etc

"Everyone needs a backpack," said Social Services Director Seth Atkinson. "We need as many as possible to truly help these kids be prepared."

Applications for The Write Stuff will be accepted at The Salvation Army Norfolk Corps at 5516 Raby Rd in Norfolk on August 26-28 from 9am to 3pm, distrubtion of supplies run the same dates and times.  For information, please contact Seth Atkinson at 757-543-8100.  Click here to see what you must supply in order to receive supplies for your children.
