VA TRANSITIONAL LIVING PROGRAM
The Veterans' Transitional Living Program is a four to six month program designed to assist homeless veterans. Eligible participants must be honorably discharged from the military and have a need for mental health, substance abuse or vocational rehabilitation services.
Case Management is established upon enrollment and a treatment plan is developed, which outlines specific goals for the veteran to meet. We work closely with the Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center's Vocational Rehabilitation Program to assist the veteran in obtaining employment. Clients are also assisted with applications for food stamps and any entitlement benefits for which they are eligible. They are required to save money in order to establish permanent housing. Their plan may also include paying off old debts, renewing licenses, etc. Each plan is individualized to meet the needs of the client.
