MISSION 66 DINER
In September 2007, two churches, Morning Star Seventh Day Adventist and The Salvation Army, started a modest outreach to seniors in the Mission 66 Community on Monday and Wednesday each week. The goal was simple: provide a wholesome meal and quality fellowship. We served 5 meals that first day.
Soon after launching the program, Jackson Street Baptist Church and TK Soul Undisputed #1 Fan Club joined in bringing the program to three days each week. Soon after, First Presbyterian Church joined and took every Tuesday, bringing the program to four days each week.
As of July 2008, the Diner has served over 4000 meals. July 2008 also brought Bowmar Baptist Church on board, helping us begin to fill in Thursdays.
The Mission 66 Diner now serves between 35-70 meals each weekday, and while targeting Seniors Citizens, no one is turned away.
Community Thanksgiving Meal
With the birth of the Diner came the revival of a Vicksburg tradition. The Community Thanksgiving Meal is entering its second consecutive year providing a traditional turkey dinner to those in need in our community.
Last year's meal was a terrific success, much to the support of Rainbow Casino, who provided much of the food at no cost. We are also thankful to the more than 40 volunteers who came out to serve the less fortunate in our community.
We look forward to a special time of Community fellowship this Thanksgiving. If you wish to help, check out the "How You Can Help" section on the right-hand side of the page.

Emergency Food Boxes
For those who are in emergency situations, Family food boxes are availible to assist families with four days of food.
