THE SALVATION ARMY NEEDS YOUR HELP...
NOW, MORE THAN EVER!
Every year around the holidays, the steady bustle of preparing for festivities begins and continually increases until the last twinkling piece of confetti falls to the floor at the opening of a new year. People give their last pocket full of change and bid-adieu to the familiar Salvation Army Bell-Ringers who pepper doorways all across Central Texas from Thanksgiving through Christmas.
Most people however, are relatively unaware of what happens to the money that is generously put in the candy-apple Red Kettles.
"The needy and hungry are often forgotten during the holidays and with the support of our community, we can brighten someone's holiday season," Captain Russell Czajkowski said. "This year with the economic downturn, your support is needed NOW, MORE THAN EVER."
At The Salvation Army, Kettle funds are used each day of the year to provide services to the needy in our community. Kettle funds provide for needs such as clothing, food boxes, emergency shelter, utility & rent assistance, prescription assistance, camp scholarships, gasoline assistance, and grocery store vouchers for perishable food.
"100 % of the proceeds we receive from the Red Kettle Drive stay right here in McLennan County and help fund our programs ALL YEAR ROUND," Czajkowski states.
So a Red Kettle gift this holiday season becomes a means to provide a lifeline of assistance to those in need in throughout the year---from the cold days of winter to the scorching months of summer, to the coming of Christmas the next year.
The Salvation Army is preparing to ring the Kettle bells and make change happen throughout McLennan County starting Monday, November 16th thru Dec. 24th at over 20 local storefronts in McLennan County.
To all who drop donations in the Red Kettle during the 2009 Christmas season, we thank you.
