Thank You!
porrasThank you for vising our site. Our history in the Winchester/Frederick/Clarke area dates to 1886. Then, the Corps "officially" opened October 13, 1919. Through the years our site location has changed several times, but our Mission never has; our mission is "to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human need, in His name, without discrimination."
Just as our Mission has never changed, neither have the basic needs of individuals. Records reveal we opened our first "soup kitchen" at 15 West Boscawen Street in 1931. Since then we have prepared and served hundreds of thousands of meals and provided shelter for as many as we could. With the compassionate and generous help of this Community, we opened our current 300 Fort Collier Road location in 1995. This location houses our 48 bed Homeless Shelter (Center of Hope) and our Social Services and Corps offices. Through our Homeless shelter kitchen, meals are served seven days a week, 52 weeks a year, not just to Homeless Shelter residents, but to everyone who comes to our doors. Last fiscal year we served over 58, 000 meals from this facility and prepared an additional 10,600 meals for our Children's Summer Feeding Program. Our Family Store (Thrift Store) located at 320 Weems Lane is instrumental in providing operational funds for services the Corps provides to assist so many in the Winchester, Frederick, and Clarke area. Once again the compassionate and generous support of the Community, in donations to the Store and in patronizing the store, enables us to provide for the basic needs of thousands of clients every year.

All the good work this organization does in helping the needy in our service area, is due to much daily prayer and the compassionate and generous response and support of this Community. THANK YOU ALL for making it possible for us to help those we can and PLEASE CONTINUE YOUR SUPPORT.

Lt. Alvaro and Danitza Porras, Corps Officers
